Privacy Policy

Mawaqity has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. It does not have a server. Your prayer times, qibla, tracker history and settings live on your device and are never sent to us, because there is no "us" to send them to.

What stays on your device

All of the following is stored locally on your iPhone and never transmitted anywhere:

• Your selected city, favourites, and coordinates
• Every setting: calculation method, Asr madhab, time adjustments, altitude, Hijri offset, language, theme
• Your prayer tracker history, streaks, and tasbih counts
• Your mosque's iqamah times, including any CSV table you import
• Scheduled notifications, which are created by iOS on your device

Prayer times, qibla direction, sun path, moon phase and crescent visibility are all computed on your device from your coordinates. No network request is involved in any of them.

Location

Mawaqity requests location access only to determine your prayer times and qibla direction. Your coordinates are used on-device for those calculations.

There is one exception worth stating plainly: when you tap Use my current location, your approximate coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud for the sole purpose of turning them into a readable place name. Nothing is attached to that request: no identifier, no account, no device ID. The result is not stored by us.

If you would rather not send coordinates at all, search for your city by name instead. You can revoke location access at any time in the iOS Settings app; Mawaqity will keep working with a manually chosen city.

City search

When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to look up matching places and their coordinates. Only your search text is sent.

Camera

The augmented-reality qibla view uses your camera to show the direction of the Kaaba over a live view. The camera feed is displayed on screen only. It is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.

Motion & orientation

The qibla compass uses your device's magnetometer and motion sensors to know which way you are facing. This data is used on-device in the moment and is not stored or transmitted.

Calendar

If you choose to export prayer times to Apple Calendar, Mawaqity asks for calendar access in order to add those events. It also reads existing events in the date range you are exporting, for one reason only: to check whether you have already exported those prayer times, so it does not create duplicates.

Your calendar contents are examined on your device during that export and are never sent anywhere, stored, or used for any other purpose. If you never use calendar export, Mawaqity never asks for this access.

You can instead export a standard .ics file and add it to any calendar app yourself, which requires no calendar access at all.

Notifications

Prayer reminders, the Qiyam alert, and don't-miss reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. They are not push notifications, no server sends them, and no notification token is ever transmitted.

Children

Mawaqity does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Third parties

Mawaqity contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no social media SDKs. The only external services it ever contacts are the two geocoding providers named above, and only when you search for a city or use your current location. Their handling of those requests is governed by their own privacy policies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
